Jan studied law at the universities of Cologne and Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne). He holds a Magister Legum, LL.M. (Cologne/Paris 1), and a Maîtrise en droit.
Jan worked as a trainee lawyer at the Environmental and Consumer Protection Agency of the municipality of Cologne, at a major German law firm in the public law department and in the London office of an international law firm. He was admitted as a lawyer in 2016. Prior to joining the Cologne office of avocado rechtsanwälte in August 2018, Jan practised at a major German law firm in the areas of environmental law as well as public and private construction law.
He focuses on the provision of legal advice to and representation of the manufacturing industry, the industrial economy as well as waste management companies in all aspects of environmental law. This comprises in particular questions of waste management, pollution control and industrial facilities law including relations to European law. He further advises clients on environmental and planning issues in infrastructure projects.
